Two and twenty or "2 and 20" is a fee arrangement that is standard in the hedge fund industry and is also common in venture capital and private equity. Hedge fund management companies typically charge clients both a management and a performance fee. While this lucrative fee arrangement has resulted in many hedge fund managers becoming extremely wealthy, in recent years the fee structure has come under fire from investors and politicians for varying reasons. The hurdle rate could either be a preset percentage, or may be based on a benchmark such as the return on an equity or bond index. Some hedge funds also have to contend with a high watermark that is applicable to their performance fee. A high watermark policy specifies that the fund manager will only be paid a percentage of the profits if the fund's net value exceeds its previous highest value.

Sell-side is to the part of the financial industry that is involved with the creation, promotion, and sale of stocks, bonds, foreign exchange, and other financial instruments to the public market. The sell-side can also include private capital market instruments such as private placements of debt and equity. Investment bankers and corporate finance advisors play the same role for private issues of debt and equity. The sell-side and buy-side of Wall Street are two sides of the same coin. One is dependent upon the other and could not operate without the other. The sell-side tries to get the highest price possible for each financial instrument while providing insight and analysis on each of these financial assets.

The two sixth-form boys hoped to pass by unobserved, as they did not wish for a rencontre with our hero under such circumstances. Coming back in the cars, I had a rencontre that makes me gnash my teeth yet. It was very odd—she had not a shade of a reason for it—but neither had she mentioned that rencontre to her friend.
